The Black Friday deal in question is for a Best Buy RTX 3060 configuration. This isn’t the newest model (don’t worry, I’ll get to that), but it’s still the best Black Friday gaming laptop deal of the year. It uses a year-old Ryzen 7 5800HS processor, but that won’t hold back your frame rates when you’ve got the RTX 3060 on board.
It’s incredible to see such a high quality and powerful laptop for well under $1,000, a whopping $500 less than retail.
Even better, Best Buy also sells the 2022 model, which comes with the latest Ryzen 9 6900HS processor and Radeon RX 6800S GPU — both from AMD. This configuration is $500 more expensive, but it comes with one a lot of the advantages over the older model. It’s stronger, yes. But it also has a higher-resolution 1600p screen, a webcam (because the older one didn’t), and twice the storage. It’s definitely worth the extra money if you have it, especially since it’s also $500 less than the original price.
Whichever Zephyrus G14 you choose, you’re getting a revolutionary gaming laptop. When it was launched, it was the first 14-inch gaming notebook that started a trend towards even smaller and more compact gaming notebooks. Going in that direction can be dangerous, especially since performance is paramount in a gaming laptop.
But Asus got it right. The Zephyrus G14 is amazingly powerful for such a small system – something that was never thought possible before. It’s only 0.78 inches thick and the small footprint makes it an excellent travel device. It slips easily into a backpack and even fits on airplane seat trays. The toned-down aesthetic makes it ideal for these situations as well.
