The hospitality scene in the Hudson Valley has been booming in recent years. In fact, it has just been named one of the best travel destinations of 2023. From all-inclusive wellness retreats to culinary resorts, the region is now home to a wide range of hotels offering different experiences. And the latest addition is just as unique and well worth checking out.

Hutton Brickyards, a 100-acre resort/event retreat on the Hudson River in Kingston, New York, now has an inn, a new addition to complement the existing riverfront cottages and a sprawling residence.

Edgewood, a historic 1870’s mansion, opened in October 2022 with 12 guest rooms including three suites, two event spaces, and a restaurant and bar focused on seasonal dishes and artisanal cocktails crafted with locally sourced ingredients.

The three-story Second Empire style inn is managed by Salt Hotels and took a year to refurbish. While the building’s original facade remains intact, with its beautiful turret, bay windows, and columned porch, the interiors have been updated to highlight the mansion’s original architectural features and reflect the history of the area. Rooms feature seating areas with charming bistro tables, vintage furniture, authentic 19th-century touches, and a neutral color palette.

“Edgewood is an elegant addition to the Hudson Valley hotel scene,” said Juan Vasquez, the property’s general manager Travel + Leisure. “There is so much history in this property and grounds – it is great to see its opulent spaces being restored and brought back to life. Edgewood adds a whole new level to Hutton Brickyards and completes the historic estate experience.”

The hotel’s signature restaurant and adjacent bar occupy the ground floor and covered patio overlooking the lawn and Hudson River. The property stays true to the Hutton Brickyards concept and adds two more event spaces to the property. The Drawing Room and The Parlor are also located on the ground floor and can be hired for receptions, cocktail parties and other special occasions.

Hutton Brickyards was a major brick manufacturer for over a century, supplying materials for projects throughout the Hudson Valley and New York City. The business closed in the 1970s and reopened in 2021 as a modern venue after a decade of construction and conservation work.

You can now book your stay in Edgewood, where nightly rates start at $195.
