So what makes this monitor worth its price? The main thing is the mini LED display. Samsung’s highest-end gaming monitor from the “Odyssey” series is also the only monitor from Samsung that is equipped with a mini-LED backlight in combination with a QLED (Quantum Dot) panel. You’ll only find mini-LED backlights in the high-end 4K TVs, as well as the latest Apple iPad Pro 12.9″ XDR display, the most expensive iPad on the market.
The Samsung Neo G9 isn’t a one-trick pony, and all other specs live up to the hype of a top-end gaming monitor. This really massive 49-inch curved-panel monitor has a pixel-dense resolution of 5,120 x 1440. This curve, by the way, is quite extreme (1000R), to the extent that it is almost hugs you while playing games. It offers a 1ms response time and 240Hz refresh rate, which means virtually no input lag or motion blur. It’s HDR2000 certified, meaning it’s possible to display a searing peak brightness of 2000 nits. It also offers support for G-Sync and FreeSync Premium Pro. And it has two HDMI 2.1 ports.
Obviously, the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 isn’t a monitor for everyone. You’ll need a fairly generous gaming budget if you’re looking to add this to your rig. The cost keeps many US players at bay, but the barrier to entry has been significantly lowered with today’s deal.

The Odyssey G9 is a 49″ 5120×1440 1000R curved display with a fast 1ms response time, 240Hz refresh rate and NVIDIA-certified G-SYNC compatibility. The HDR1000 Quantum Dot (QLED) panel offers 125% more color space than the sRGB standard (95% DCI-P3) If it matters to you at all, this monitor is also great to look at, both front and back.
