Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland 2022 dates, skins and modes announced

Blizzard Entertainment’s annual holiday event for surveillance 2, Winter Wonderland, is now live, bringing back a trio of wintry arcade modes and welcoming a fresh batch of themed cosmetics. Players can get at least one of these for free: Brigitte’s Frozen skin, which can be earned by completing challenges in the Winter Wonderland game modes.

over watch 2 Running from December 13th to January 4th, 2023, Winter Wonderland 2022 includes the return of four game modes: Mei’s Snowball Offensive, Snowball Deathmatch, Yeti Hunter, and Frosttau Elimination. veteran over watch Gamers will be fairly familiar with these modes, but new players will discover two Mei-themed game modes 6v6 Elimination and 8-player FFA Deathmatch with snowballs; a 5v1 mode pitting five Meis against a meat-snatching Winston; and a 4v4 Freeze Tag mode where players attempt to eliminate opponents by freezing them and keep their teammates alive by thawing them.

Players who participate in these arcade modes can unlock a set of Christmas tree ornament sprays and the Ice Queen Epic Tier skin for Brigitte. To unlock Brigitte’s new skin, six more Winter Wonderland Event Challenges must be completed:

  • Warmhearted – Thaw 15 allies in Freeze-Thaw Elimination
  • Catch a Cold – Catch 6 snowballs in the Snowball Deathmatch
  • Abominable – Win a Yeti Hunter game as a Yeti
  • Ice Block – Block a snowball with Mei’s Ice Wall
  • Thawed – Win a game in Freezethaw Elimination
  • Blizzard – Win a match in Snowball Deathmatch
  • Monster Hunter – Win a game in Yeti Hunter as Mei
  • Time for Cocoa – Win a game in Mei’s Snowball Offensive

Winter Wonderland brings with it a host of new skins, including a gingerbread-inspired design for Bastion, an iron gel skin for Echo, and the hu tou mao skin for Mei. These cosmetics are all part of surveillance 2‘s in-game store and it costs Overwatch Coins to acquire them. Winter Wonderland skins from previous years are also available in the in-game store.

Tuesday’s update includes a number of new skins that are not yet available for purchase but can be viewed in-game. Many were shown at the end of November as part of surveillance 2‘s Season 2 trailer, and include Medusa Widowmaker, Cyclops Roadhog, Minotaur Reinhardt, and Crustacean Wrecking Ball (who also gets a crab-walking “Scurrying” emote).

surveillance 2 is now available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
