Ask Kimura

#01. When will the new game be released?

Thank you for this important question!

The answer is “next year”… but that’s all we can say for now!

At this point, we’re not in a place where we can announce a firm release date.

What we can say is that our first step will be to add a Steam page with an unspecified release date…

…or so I think.

And even then, it’ll likely be another six months before launch on every platform…

…or so I think.

In order to announce a release date, we need to be at a point in development where we know we can absolutely meet that date…

…and we’re not there yet.

#02. What general theme does your new game follow, e.g. B. how moon it was about love, and Chulip was it kissing?

Many Thanks.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions like this in English for quite some time, but I haven’t had many opportunities to answer them. I’ll try to answer them more often from now on.

What is the theme of the game? That is indeed the question.

I can’t give you a definitive answer because I’ve been trying to fully understand this while developing the game…

What I can say is that I’ve been thinking a lot about “kids” this time. That’s the main thing I thought of.

Hello, everyone.

This is Kimura-san, your uncle who develops indie video games. As you know, I’m currently working hard on the development of a new RPG. Today I want to talk about this “Rose Colored World”.

It seems that the number of Japanese developers making indie games is increasing dramatically. And now, last month saw the debut of a TV drama titled Atom’s last shotabout a solo, author, indie game-making genius.

What an amazing time we live in! I can’t believe there is a TV show like this in Japan! …But it’s kind of weird. It’s honestly not super interesting. Maybe because there is no such thing as “drudgery”?

In the real world of indie games, there are far more frustrated developers than successful ones. What you thought was a bright, pink future actually turns out to be blood-stained red!

In reality, the world of indie gaming is more about being thrown into a muddy, bloody battlefield.

Maybe it’s just that this show doesn’t represent that damn exhaustion that a lot of indie game developers have.

During the development of a game, you’re constantly bleeding out your own living expenses and other labor costs, and you never know if the next transfusion will show up in time for the game to release.

Even then — and even if you make an outrageously interesting game — there’s no guarantee it will sell huge.

And while we know this in advance, we game developers must keep working to maximize our productivity. We have to keep pushing forward.

Indie game developers are basically bizarre creatures that constantly run, laugh and play chess while bleeding profusely.

Anyway, we will keep working hard to finish the new RPG!

I’m pretty sure we’ll be completely drained by the time it’s completed, so when we do, please check out the game (and maybe buy it if you can)!
