We are less than a week into the life of Warzone 2.0an updated version of the hit free-to-play battle royale spinoff for call of Duty, and players already think that they will die at the hands of invisible opponents. Though Activision hasn’t officially acknowledged the potential bug, players are already trading stories of the dreaded bug’s return.

war zone is Invisibility exploits are no stranger, although the game’s developers have been messing around with the problem for the past several years. As such, Warzone 2.0 Players are already armed to believe that their failed campaigns and early deaths are the result of nefarious forces beyond their control. However, the video evidence so far certainly seems to indicate that something strange is going on.

Streamer XSET Super Evan (above Rock Paper Shotgun) sounded the alarm on twitter over the weekend with footage showing him prostrate on the top of a building with no opposing player in sight. However, the kill cam continued to show someone across from him as he came up the ladder who should have been in sight but wasn’t. Other players shared their own screenshots and clips:

Multiple players have been do the same on reddit. Some even claimed to be itself invisible, with opponents running past them and no clear idea of how the bug even happened. This certainly seems to indicate that there is an invisibility bug, even if it exists List of Known Issues provided by Activision does not yet recognize any. However, other players are convinced that the invisibility is the result of external hacks and cheats rather than an in-game exploit.

There is a known godmode bug that is specific to Warzone 2.0‘s DMZ mode, but it doesn’t allow players to use weapons while invisible. Instead of this, as documented by several YouTubers, players can respawn after their team has been wiped out and drive vehicles around to run over NPCs and continue to gather XP. If there really is a way for players to turn invisible but keep their weapons and still fire, then I’m sure the secret behind the exploit won’t stay hidden for long.

But for now Warzone 2.0 Players just have to keep looking over their shoulders for fear of one of battle royale’s more notorious glitches springing into action again. They might not be able to see their opponent, but at least they have the kill cam footage to prove what happened.
