While most auto journalists are sent to every corner of the world to look at and drive the latest cars, the other 95 percent of our jobs are Description of the latest and greatest cars using photos. You can imagine something like a car, some of the best details are best seen in person, which brings us to the LA Auto Show.

While the show is a bit lackluster compared to shows from years past (and its big auto show counterparts in Detroit and New York), a car show is always a great way to enjoy the sights, sounds, and textures of the cars all in one place. Here are some that left a lasting impression.

The 2024 Ford Mustang

The Blue Oval showcased its hottest products like the Maverick, the Bronco, the F-150 Lightning EV and the newly introduced one 2024 Ford Mustang. Most of us can agree that the new iteration of the Pony looks great – the details that go into this car really bring it together. Look at that shoulder line. And that gusset. If you didn’t know you were looking at a new convertible Mustang, you’d probably think it was a Chevy Camaro. The similarities are already apparent in pictures, but in person it’s pretty glaring. Fortunately, it doesn’t detract from the overall design.

Hyundai’s Ioniq 6 EV

Hyundai had quite a big media day at the LA Auto Show with the launch of the second Ioniq EV: the Ioniq 6. At Jalopnik, we fell madly in love with the Ioniq 5, and the 6 should certainly attract a lot of buyers. Just like the 5, the 6 has incorporated some stunning notes into the design.

For example Hyundai’s unique integration of LED DRLs. The Ioniq 6 features its amber “Parametric Pixel” LEDs, an attractive patterned addition first introduced on the 5.

The interior lighting system of the Ioniq 6 is just as cool and innovative with 64 colors and over 4,000 combinations synchronizes with the speed of the car. The faster you drive, the brighter the interior is illuminated.

Maybe it’s just me, but this Honda pilot looks like he has a little Toyota 4Runner in the C-pillar.

The new Toyota Prius

I don’t think anyone expected Toyota to change the game like it did with the 2023 Prius. Personally, the most striking part of the design really sits at the rear of the car. The way the gussets come together with the light bar at the back just looks so damn good. (Those are words I never thought I’d say about any Prius.) The design is almost fluid. I feel a near urge to thank designers for making a Prius that I actually want to buy. It has grown up, or matured, from the fuel-sipping device of its earlier years. Now if only we had designers to make every hybrid look so attractive.
