In addition to the cancellation month just announced Carnival vistaCarnival Cruise Line has also canceled a month of cruises Carnival Sunriseas well as several cruises canceled for Carnival Miracle. One ship undergoes dry dock while the other sails an alternate route instead of its original schedule.
Carnival Sunrise to dry dock in February 2024
Carnival Sunrise is now scheduled for an extended dry dock in early 2024 and affected guests and travel advisors are being contacted regarding the canceled sailings, which include all voyages from February 1 through March 4, 2024.
Carnival Cruise Line brand ambassador John Heald addressed the cancellations, including Carnival vista‘s canceled cruiseson his Facebook page.
“Dry dock planning is done in advance, but sometimes we need to change plans and some of you have canceled your 2024 cruises on these two ships.” said hero.
During the dry dock period Carnival Sunrise should have sailed 4-5 nights from Miami to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. After servicing and refreshment, the ship will return to Miami and remain in her homeport in South Florida through at least the end of 2024.
No details on the dry dock plans have been released, but such a lengthy period suggests some important work to be done on the ship. This will likely include upgrades to the public areas as well as engineering upgrades and other work to keep the ship at its peak.

Carnival Miracle cruises cancelled
In addition to cruise cancellations for Carnival vista and Carnival Sunrisethe Spirit class Carnival Miracle has also canceled cruises, but for a different reason.
Carnival Cruise Line has postponed the date Carnival Miracle for a 14 day “Carnival” trip to Hawaii, departing Sunday 21st January 2024.
This means the ship’s previously scheduled cruises will have to be canceled to accommodate the new departures. The new Hawaii cruise will depart anyway Carnival MiracleHome port, Long Beach, California.
The canceled sailings will operate from January 21, 2024 through January 30, 2024, after which the ship will resume her previously scheduled itineraries to Baja Mexico and the Mexican Riviera, with another Carnival Journeys cruise to Hawaii departing February 17, 2024 .
Carnival Journeys cruises are longer, more intense itineraries that visit dream destinations. Onboard activities, including in-cabin entertainment, trivia and movies, are often themed around the destination, and special menu items also relate to ports of call.

Compensation for affected guests
Guests affected by the cancellations for any of the three ships have several options for compensation. Though the now-cancelled sailings are more than a year away, many travelers are planning their cruises well in advance and are now having to adjust their plans.
First, guests can choose to rebook on a cruise similar to their canceled cruise, either at a later date on the same ship or on a different ship. The cruise fare will be protected in similar accommodations and guests will also receive an onboard credit to use towards the new cruise if they rebook by Tuesday, December 27, 2022.
Guests should note that Rebooking Rate Protection does not apply to charter, leisure, Alaska, Europe or Hawaii cruises, even canceled ones Carnival Miracle Cruises that will actually be replaced by the new Hawaii cruise.
If guests choose not to rebook, they will receive a full refund, including all fees, taxes, and prepaid items such as shore excursions, spa treatments, and beverage packages.
Refunds will be processed back to the original form of payment, but may take up to three weeks to process depending on individual guest’s banking policies.
