McCullough Brothers Pledge to Oklahoma

Sometimes the transfer portal and the current recruitment class can work together. Oklahoma just learned that in a very positive way.

The Sooners received two pledges this weekend, one from the portal and one for the Class of 2023.

And from a family.

The McCullough brothers come to Norman. South Bend (Ind.) St. Joseph defenders back Daeh McCullough has flipped his commitment from Cincinnati to the Sooners. His brother, former Indiana linebacker Dasan McCulloughwill also join him.

The McCullough brothers visited Norman over the weekend and head coach Brent Venables and his staff were able to finalize the deal.

Daeh McCullough had been signed for Cincinnati since June, but OU entered the race with an offer five weeks ago. It wasn’t just a token offer, either, as the Sooners were really pushing to try and initiate a flip.

Their job has been made easier by all the coaching changes at the Bearcats, and the OU coaches made Daeh a big priority last week by having several coaches check in with the four-star prospect.

Dasan has had a stellar season for true freshmen with the Hoosiers. He had 48 tackles, four sacks and three passes defended and lived up to his top 100 national rankings.

He entered the portal last Sunday night and it very quickly became clear that OU wanted not just one McCullough boy but both on the Class of 2023 list.

There’s a certain versatility to Dasan, but it’s very easy to just look at his height, build, and skills and know that this feels like the future cheetah linebacker for the Sooners.

Daeh becomes the 23rd member of the OU Class of 2023 and is still firmly in the top 10 of the national rankings. He is the 15th prospect to be rated four stars or better in the first full class by Venables.

Dasan is OU’s third Portal engagement, joining former Notre Dame defenseman Jacob Lacey and former South Carolina tight end Austin Stogner.

Everyone knew the brothers would be a big focus for OU this weekend. Done and done, and now OU can continue to work towards completing the 2023 course and incorporating more pieces from the portal in the coming days and weeks.
