Man hacks down father, throws pieces into drilled well in Bagalkot

A 20-year-old man is said to have killed his father and hacked the body into over 14 pieces, which he threw into an abandoned well near Mudhol in Bagalkot district late Monday night.

Vithal Kulali (20), the suspect, was arrested for brutally murdering his father Parashuram Kulali (54), police said.

Vithal murdered his father by hitting him repeatedly with an iron bar around midnight. He decided to chop up the body and dump the pieces in the well on his farmland near the Mantur bypass on the outskirts of Mudhol, fearing he would be caught burying the body.

He told police that his father often abused and assaulted him in a drunken state. He could not endure the torture any longer and murdered him.

The murder came to light after police questioned him based on the victim’s wife’s complaint.

The police used an excavator and recovered the body parts.
