Increased Prize Payouts & Free X2019 – GTPlanet

The Gran Turismo franchise officially turns 25 this year – on December 23rd – and the anniversary will be marked with a special celebration inside Gran Turismo 7detailed in a new PlayStation blog post.

It all starts with the “25th Anniversary Update” hinted at by Kazunori Yamauchi over the weekend when it arrives in the early hours of Thursday, November 24th. This will give the main section of the game’s world map a chic, celebratory cosmetic overhaul, as you can see below.

In addition to the various activities over the course of the Gran Turismo World Final weekend from November 24th to 27th, which includes the bonus campaign to select the event winners and the new spectator campaign, there are some limited-time in-game events prizes until the new Year.

From the moment the update lands (and is copied and installed!), players will have access to a special “Increase Rewards” campaign that provides an increase in potential income in Sport mode races.

Daily Race A – currently featuring the Chaparral 2J at Sardegna Road – will be replaced by a special race resembling one of the World Finals races, running until Monday 5th December. This offers 5x the usual credit reward based on your final placement in the multiplayer race. However, you will need a PS Plus subscription to access the event.

You don’t need PS Plus to access the new Online Time Trials. This is described as a “full replica of the World Finals races to be held as time trials” – probably hot laps based on the 11 different races this weekend. They run until December 5th and offer double the usual rewards based on your lag against the world best; A maximum of 4,000,000 cr is available for a gold period.

Last but not least, and again requiring PS Plus, there’s a special series of Points Races – like the Official Online Exhibition Series – running in two stages from November 24th to 27th and December 1st to 4th. These will also replicate the World Finals events, and depending on final placement, ten times the usual prize money will be on offer.

A new Gran Turismo 25th Anniversary banner on the world map will also give players access to some special races with increased prizes, although at this point it’s not entirely clear what those will be. After the update, a game schedule should appear with the races running from November 25th to January 3rd.

All players who participate in the events will receive a Red Bull X2019 competition car with a special 25th Anniversary livery. There will also be new liveries for cars used in the World Finals events, including Nations Cup liveries, available through the in-game showcase.
