How to maximize iPhone and Android battery performance

Mobile phone battery almost empty?

Regardless of whether you are using an iPhone or an Android, there are ways to fix the problem.

Apple has several tips on its website that iPhone owners can use.

Update to the latest software

Make sure your device is using the latest version of iOS by going to Settings, General, then Software update.

Optimize your iPhone’s settings

Dim the screen brightness by opening Control Center and toggling the brightness slider. Or go to Settings, Accessibility, tap Display & text size and turn on Auto-brightness.

Also, when you use your device to access data, a Wi-Fi connection uses less power than a cellular network. Turn on Wi-Fi by going to Settings and then Wi-Fi to access a Wi-Fi network.

Activate energy saving mode

Introduced with iOS 9, the battery saver mode is an easy way to extend an iPhone’s battery life. Enable it by going to Settings and then Battery.

When the phone is recharged, the power saving mode turns off automatically.

View battery usage information

Manage a device’s battery life by monitoring the percentage used by each app, including background activity, background location and location, home and lock screen, and when there is no cellular coverage and weak signal.

To view usage, go to Settings and then Battery.

Plug in and turn on your computer to charge your device

Make sure your device is charging when connected to a computer. Make sure the computer is not turned off or in sleep or standby mode.

Android also has a resource for interested users. Remarkably, some of the steps only work on Android 13 and later.

Choose the right settings

According to Android, users can turn on a dark theme, delete unused accounts, turn on adaptive battery, restrict apps that drain battery, turn off keyboard sounds or vibrations, set the screen brightness to change automatically, and have a screen turn off earlier.

Use the correct power adapter

Other adapters and chargers can charge slowly or not at all, damaging an Android and its battery.

Avoid situations where a phone can overheat

Batteries drain much faster when it’s hot – even when not in use.

Occasionally drain the phone’s battery

“You don’t have to teach your phone battery capacity by charging from full charge to zero or from zero to full. We recommend that you occasionally drain your battery below 10% and then fully charge it overnight,” says Android.
