Avatar: The Way of WaterThe opening weekend of already makes it the 10th highest-grossing film of the year, and by Christmas it could well challenge the top five of 2022.
In comparison, avatar had grossed $241.6 million following its opening weekend in 2009, but enjoyed an exceptional run, surpassing the $2 billion mark on January 31, 2010, and its initial release at $2.75 billion ended.
With little competition, the sequel could also enjoy a longer run, but we won’t get a real feel for it until we see how well it holds up next weekend.
