Stanford scored on a 7-yard touchdown catch from Brycen Tremayne, but the Cardinals were unlucky on the point-after attempt as a bad snap resulted in a failed conversion.

That leaves it a two-point game on the Cardinal’s second failed PAT of the night. BYU 35, Stanford 26.

Can BYU hold out?


Stanford gets on the board for the first time in the second half, marching 75 yards in eight games before Ashton Daniels scores on a 1-yard run.

The Cardinal added a two-point conversion to make it a 15-point game. BYU 35, Stanford 20.

That should wrap things up — BYU’s Puka Nacua scored on a 25-yard reverse in third and fourth, giving the Cougars their biggest lead. BYU 35, Stanford 12.

BYU kept the ball on the ground on Jacob Conover’s first drive after Jaren Hall left injured.

Third quarter


Jacob Conover is quarterback for BYU after Jaren Hall hobbled the game at the end of the Cougars’ previous drive.

Hall was stopped short of a first down on a fourth down attempt when BYU was deep in Stanford territory.

How will Conover deal with the situation?

second quarter


Stanford added three points in the last game of the half when Joshua connected Karty with a 54-yard field goal to send the game into halftime. BYU 28, Stanford 12.

The Cardinal converted a fourth and a fourth to set up the field goal.


Isaac Rex caught his second touchdown pass, this time a 1-yarder on third-and-goal, and BYU has four touchdowns on four possessions. BYU 28, Stanford 9.

Stanford appeared to have a goal-line standing within the 5, but the Cardinal was called offside on a third try of the game in front of goal.


The Cardinal has his first touchdown, scoring on a 1-yard run by Mitch Leigber to break Cougar’s lead. However, the extra point was missed. BYU 21, Stanford 9.

Stanford used a fourth and fifth conversion to put the 75-yard drive in a play that hit the Cardinal 22 yards and put them deep in BYU territory.


BYU reached into his bag of tricks for a touchdown pass when Jaren Hall topped a flea flicker with a 43-yard touchdown pass to Isaac Rex. BYU 21, Stanford 3.

The Cougars have 221 total yards of offense to make it a three-point game.

BYU has two possessions and two touchdowns — Hinckley Ropati rumbled 43 yards for a touchdown run and capped the Cougars’ second straight 75-yard scoring drive. BYU 14, Stanford 3.

BYU already has 126 rushing yards in play.


Stanford responded to BYU’s opening hit with one of his own, rushing for 49 yards and scoring a 34-yard field goal from Joshua Karty. BYU 7, Stanford 3.


BYU marched right through the field on his first drive, rushed for 75 yards in seven games and scored on a 19-yard rush from Jaren Hall. BYU 7, Stanford 0.
