District Media Group President Beverly Hallberg reacts to Twitter takeover of Elon Musk and Nancy Pelosi not seeking re-election.
Twitter CEO Elon Musk hasn’t seen any lucrative results after his $44 billion purchase of the social media platform, but he may have just found his solution: Donald Trump.
The new Twitter boss took to the platform on Friday night and asked his followers if the former US president would be allowed to return to Twitter after his suspension.
Trump was previously suspended from Twitter in the immediate aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021 US Capitol riots for allegedly inciting violence or fearing he might use the platform in this way.

As for the poll, the response was overwhelming.

Musk released the poll just before 7 p.m. and received millions of responses within hours.
Eight hours later, responses were still coming in at an average of a million per hour, Musk tweeted.
And most of the 8.4 million respondents (as of early Saturday morning) agreed that Trump, who was once a dominant presence on the platform, be allowed to return.

“Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” Musk added in a subsequent tweet, a Latin phrase that translates to “the voice of the people is the voice of God.”
Musk said he’s reinstated several accounts, including satirical account Babylon Bee, but his decision on Trump “isn’t made yet.”

Musk has faced near-constant criticism since taking over the platform, as he fired most executives and employees, overhauled the platform’s subscription and verification system, and announced a series of moderation changes.
In another tweet on Friday, Musk assured that he navigates Twitter to prioritize “freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach.”

“Negative/hate tweets are maximally devalued and demonstrated, so no advertising or other revenue for Twitter,” he wrote. “You won’t find the tweet unless you specifically search for what is no different from [the] the rest of [the] Internet.”
“What should Twitter do next?” Musk asked openly, a tweet that received nearly 300,000 replies.
