But you probably won’t be able to buy actual laptops with those GPUs for at least a month or two after that. Until then, this is as good as it gets: the MSI Vector GP66, complete with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, the world’s fastest mobile graphics chip.
It’s yours for a relative bargain price of $1,999, all included. A sizable sum, to be sure, but cheaper than most laptops with the non-Ti RTX. What’s more, the 15.6-inch Vector GP66 is literally crammed with additional performance-enhancing goodies.
Front and center is a 15.6-inch 1440p IPS display with a 165Hz refresh rate. Next comes CPU power from an Intel Core i9 12900H chip with six performance cores and eight efficiency cores, plus one maxed out clock speed of 5 GHz. It’s a monster of a mobile processor.
You can add a full 32GB of RAM to that, as well as a beefy 1TB M.2 SSD. Extras include two M.2 slots, HDMI 2.1 output and a 720p webcam. Connectivity includes three USB-A ports, USB-C, Mini-DisplayPort and WiFi 6E.
In terms of battery life, we wouldn’t expect too much from the 65 Wh lithium pack. But you should be able to squeeze out three or four hours of light usage. But then again, this is a true desktop replacement rig, not something slim and light that you shove in a bag when you pop out.
In other words, the point of the MSI Vector GP66 is to annihilate frames at a breathtaking speed. With the fastest mobile GPU available, we suspect you’ll be hard pressed to find anything faster in a mobile form factor under $2,000.
