APC debunks Atikus Lagos comment and lists Tinubu’s achievements

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council on Monday night unveiled the accomplishments of its presidential flag-bearer, Bola Tinubu, in modernizing Lagos in a bid to refute former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s earlier claim that the federal government deserves the credit.

During the PDP presidential rally on Tafawa Balewa Square, Atiku had called on the residents of Lagos to free themselves from Tinubu’s iron grip on the state.

The PDP candidate also announced that the former governor must not go ahead with his claim to build Lagos.

He reiterated that it was a known fact that the FG was the mastermind behind the massive infrastructure and development in the state, including the construction of the second and third mainland bridges.

Atiku’s rally on Monday took place almost at the same time as Tinubu was delivering a lecture on security, economics and foreign policy at Chatham House in London, UK.

Hours after its scathing attack on the former Lagos governor, the APC campaign council issued a statement signed by its spokesman, Festus Keyamo.

While describing the Lagos PDP campaign rally as “scandalously sparse”, an irate Keyamo explained that Atiku had taken the “unworthy path of mere lies” by telling people that Tinubu had not developed Lagos state.

The statement read in part: “Let us remind Atiku that despite his conspiracy to seize the funds of the people of Lagos State as Vice President of Nigeria, Tinubu overcame this handicap by serving as governor and subsequently as leader of the Lagos State ruling party Miracle.” accomplished .

“In more volatile climes, the people of Lagos State would not have allowed Atiku to set foot on Lagos State soil because of this unworthy role his government played in trying to destroy Lagos. But thanks to Asiwaju, Lagos is now a peaceful place and a home for everyone, hence he could still come to Lagos to spit out such lies to the people of Lagos State.

“Remind Atiku that after the federal government left Lagos after the 1990 Orkar coup, the FG left Lagos infrastructure to decay while it focused on Abuja’s development. After Asiwaju took office in 1999, he began revitalizing and rebuilding infrastructure in Lagos State.

“A clear example is Bar Beach, which FG has failed to contain in all its years in Lagos State. During Tinubu’s tenure, the idea for Eko Atlantic was conceived and planned, and the project continued unhindered under Fashola, who has himself acknowledged the genesis to Tinubu.

“Others are the various high profile roads built by Tinubu such as Kudirat Abiola Road; Awolowo Street, Ikoyi; Akin Adesola Rd, VI; Adeola Odeku Rd, VI; Agege Motor Road; Ikotun Igando Street; Yaba-Itire-Lawanson-Ojuelegba Rd; LASU-IBA Rd; Ajah Badore Rd; Oba Sekumade Road, Ikorodu; Bourdillon-Gerald Rd; Lekki Expressway; Adetokunbo Ademola Rd etc.

“Agencies like LAWMA, Highway Managers, LASTMA, KAI, CBD, LAGBUS, LASEPA, LASAMBUS, etc. have all been set up to develop different sectors. These are verifiable facts.

“It’s obvious that Atiku and the PDP have their backs to the wall because key governors and his party’s stakeholders are rebelling against and shunning his campaign, which has made him battle-weary. Atiku is already showing signs of frustration.

“We advise Atiku ABUBAKAR to end his campaign to save face rather than face the upcoming election disgrace.”
