10′: What could have been

Both teams came out strong. Harry Kane was so close to get England on the board early but his shot was narrowly blocked by US defender Walker Zimmerman.

17′: USA knocks

Haji Wright almost put the USA ahead with that header, but his attempt failed and they remained scoreless early in the first half.

26′: heating up

27′: No call

As competition continued to heat up on the field, the sports world noted the lack of yellow cards until the half-hour, especially when USMNT defenseman Antonee Robinson was not given a card for the challenge.

It is worth noting that no English player received a yellow card in the opening match against Iran.

33′: Off the crossbar!

Christian Pulisic hit the bar with a left-footed shot just inches from putting the USA ahead.

62′: Adams in action

USMNT captain Adams won a free-kick for the USA after that jab from Mount as the second half came to an end.

83′: A family affair

Giovanni Reyna replaced Weah late in the second half. His participation in Friday’s game was a milestone in his family as he took the field 16 years after his father Claudio Reyna played at his last FIFA World Cup.

90′ + 3′: To be on the safe side

Kane made one last try for England with a header in the final moments of Friday’s game but he failed to score. That ended the game goalless.

Friday’s game against England was the USMNT’s second in the group stage after a 1-1 draw Wales earlier this week. On the other hand, England – favorites to win – clinched a draw against USA after opening the tournament with a dominant 6-2 win Iran on Monday.
